CRBC CONTRACTED KENYA RAILWAY PROJECT

CRBC was contracted to build Kenya’s biggest railway project according to Chinese railway standards.

This railway line is for passengers and cargo transportation between Mombasa and Nairobi. The Mombasa-Nairobi railway peoject is the biggest infrastructure project in history. It will shorten the passenger travel time from Mombasa to Nairobi from more than ten hours to only  four hours. Freight train journey will be shortened to less than eight hours.

This railway line is about 610km long;   It was started in 2013 and is schedule to be finished by end of 2017.  During this time, a lot of job opportunities are created.

The Mombasa-Nairobi railway project is estimated to cost 3.8 billion usd.  China Exim Bank will provide 90% of the financing and another 10% will be contributed by Kenyan Government.

The railway rolling stock and infrastructure materials will be produced in China and transported to Kenya, this generates a lot of orders for Chinese railway manufactures.
